Whale Themed Nursery

When we found out we were expecting baby boy #3 I knew right away I wanted to do a whale themed nursery. I have always loved the ocean, and any beachy type decorations, plus Dustyn is really into sea creatures. I knew it would be perfect for our family and I am over the moon with how it turned out. His room is the best decorated room in the house. I love just hanging out in there with him.

The Land of Nod offers a free design service, so she actually helped me figure out where to put everything in the nursery. She also helped me lay out the gallery wall after I sent her photos of what I wanted to put up there. I am sure everything turned out a lot better because of her help. The Octopus and Fish were done by Carsyn and Dustyn. I painted a canvas with light blue paint and then had them put their hand prints on the canvas. I then added the eyes, and bubbles. Super simple and a fun personalized touch.

Most of the design items came from The Land of Nod, Burkes Outlet, and Hobby Lobby. The aquatic crib bedding is my favorite! It is adorable but not too babyish. I love all the bright colors brought into the nursery. We decided not to paint the walls because we want to sell our house in the near future.

I had fun decorating the bookshelf. The little blue striped cube bins hold burp clothes, bibs, socks and more. The clock, rope photo frame, and the whale piggy bank all came from Burkes Outlet. They have a really great selection of nautical items.

The gallery wall art rail is super cool because you can change out prints easily. Right now I have two prints from Etsy: Dream Big Little One from Julie Ann Studios and Nautical ABC Print from Crazy Fox Paper.

I love using the tug o lamp at night when I nurse and rock him in the glider from Wayfair. It is a nice cozy space to really bond with Prestyn. I am glad I purchased a glider this time, I really missed having somewhere to spend one on one time with the boys. The aqua pouf is the perfect height to rest my feet while rocking him. A few other special touches from etsy shops are the crocheted whale plush and the P is for Prestyn sign.

The whale rug from Mohawk Home is adorable and super soft. The colors are just wonderful and really pop. I also really love the Be On The Sea Activity Floor Mat. Prestyn has played on it a little bit, but I can’t wait until he really starts exploring. There are little pockets, squeakers, crinkle paper and more. He will love it I am sure.
