Upcycled Cardboard Boxes Into Storage Boxes

As a mom, I am always looking for ways to recycle, upcycle and make better choices about what products I use in our home. I recently heard about two sulfate-free products I wanted to try out: all® fresh clean ESSENTIALS® and AVEENO PURE RENEWAL® Shampoo and Conditioner.

These new products sparked an idea for me to upcyle cardboard boxes we had laying around into storage boxes. We recycle cardboard a lot but I like to keep a few boxes around in case I find a new use form them. I also used materials I already had laying around. Feel free to get creative with what you have.

Materials Needed:

  • Cardboard box
  • Box Cutters
  • Measuring Tape
  • Packing Tape
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Hot Glue
  • Twine
  • Burlap Ribbon

First measure how tall you want the box to be and make marks all around.

Using a box cutter cut around the box. It is okay if it is a little crooked. Don’t stress it.

Starting at the bottom of the box glue on the burlap ribbon.

Continue all the way around the whole box.

Now take your twine and wrap it around until you get the desired thickness. I hot glued it periodically to keep it in place.

Take another piece of burlap ribbon and fold over the top. Hot glue all the way around the outside first.

Now hot glue the ribbon to the inside at that top. If you wanted you could always add another fabric on the inside to make it cleaner looking but I think it looks fine this way.

I also took the top portion that I cut off before and retaped the flaps. Since this part was shorter I hot glued one piece of burlap ribbon down bottom and another directly on top. Then just ran the twine around twice.

NEW sulfate free all® fresh clean ESSENTIALS® delivers a powerful clean without harshness. The sulfate-free formula gets into your fabrics with proven and effective ingredients that will lift the toughest stains for a deep clean.

In the box for the laundry room I also put clothespins and a container for missing socks. That way I know where to find them when I come across the other sock. My laundry bag for delicates is in the box too. Not sure how many times I have lost track of that. Happy to have everything all in one place.

Coupon for $.50 off one (1) all® product (while supplies last). You can find the all® fresh clean ESSENTIALS® detergent at Walmart on the top shelf in the laundry aisle.

6 weeks ago I cut off the top of my Monstera Adans 6 weeks ago I cut off the top of my Monstera Adansonii because it was very tall but not bushy. It was nerve wracking at first. I had 5 total cuttings that I put into water. 4 of the pieces had roots longer than 2 inches with some secondary roots. The last piece is still in water, it has some roots but not enough, so giving it a bit more time. Where I cut it is also making a new stem and I noticed further down it was trying to branch out in other places. Hopefully it takes off this Summer and becomes fuller looking.

It was soooo cold out there tonight even with the sun. The wind was whipping. It may have been in the 40s but the wind chill was in the low 30s. I think my face is wind burned. Annie did a great job playing tonight and was trying so hard to make a goal. The other team was short on players, so one of her teammates was goalie and did an awesome job stopping the ball. Annie tried a new strategy of holding the ball in between her feet until the other team gives up. 🤣 There is one clip of Prestyn (# 13). His games are harder to take video of cause his field is so big.

Today while eating lunch I told her it was close to coming out and we would need to pull it before bed. While eating chicken teriyaki she thought she swallowed it and spit out the chicken in her mouth. I dug through it and it wasn’t there. She started freaking out. Then looked on the chair and it was sitting right there. 🤣 A similar thing happened with Prestyn on one of his bottom teeth. My kids never want to pull them out until they fall out on their own. Ha.

So it was growing soooooo slow. I finally repotted it a couple weeks ago, moved it closer to a window, and started using plant food from @happyhappyhouseplant. Not sure what made the most difference but the leaf opened and now a new one is already starting. Hoping it won’t take as long this time.
