Snow Day

Filed Under: Family, Photography Tagged With: dixie, dudley, dustyn, snow, winter

I never imagined being in North East North Carolina and getting so much snow. Usually we get a dusting to one each once or twice a year. In just a week we have gotten two substantial amounts of snow. These pictures are from the snow day last week. It was a gorgeous sunrise so I just had to go out and capture the snow and beautiful light.

Snow DayIt was extremely cold out that morning so I didn’t stay out too long to take photos, but I am glad I went out to capture a few. The snow we got today wasn’t nearly as pretty because we couldn’t even see the sun this morning because of the clouds.

Snow Day

Our dogs, Dudley and Dixie. They enjoyed playing in the snow a bit but they were much happier inside where it is warm. Dudley just turned 9 Years old and Dixie will be 10 years old in April. They are lab/retriever mixed with rottweiler. They have the same mom and dad but from two different litters. Dudley is about 100lbs and looks like a full bred lab. Dixie is around 75lbs and has the long coat of the retriever but has the coloring of the rottweiler.

Snow Day

Dustyn got all dressed up to go outside by himself. He had on his footy pajamas, jeans, jacket, regular shoes, two hats and some cheesy gloves. He couldn’t even get his pants to button. Needless to say he didn’t stay outside long. He did try to throw snow at my camera while I was taking his photos. I didn’t think it was very funny but the photos looked neat. So next time I told him to just throw the snow straight up in the air. Still looked neat but wasn’t aimed at my really expensive camera. He also road around on his arctic cat power wheels which was pretty funny because the tires kept spinning. Then he ended up losing his shoe. That is when we went in. I let him warm up a bit then I properly dressed him.

Snow Day

Even though last week we only received three inches of snow they were out of school the rest of the week. This week 6 inches got dumped on us Tuesday night and Wednesday morning and so far no school since Tuesday’s early release. I am hoping they will go Friday and at most only have a two hour delay. It is suppose to get up to 51 on Friday so I think they should be able to go. We will have to see though. From Vacation two weeks ago, then snow last week, and again this week I am really ready to get back on a normal schedule.

Have you gotten any snow? I would love to see your pictures. Leave a link in the comment section so I can stop by!

Wow, first of all, I love your photos! They are beautiful. I also LOVE your doggies! I have a big lab, and big Husky and a tiny Chihuahua (I prob spelled that wrong). Anyway, I loved your post because it brings me back to when my kids (now 21 and 19) were little and had snow days. I remember how excited they would get. God bless your beautiful family!

Wow! That is such a different look for your two dogs! Crazy how genetics can be like that. Our german shepherd mix just turned nine years old as well and when we had our cold spell back in early December and our temps were down in the 20's he preferred to be inside as much as possible as well.

July was an amazing month for the most part. Kenny July was an amazing month for the most part. Kenny and I celebrated being married 18 years in the mountains, and the kids had a lot of Summer fun. Unfortunately we did lose Kenny’s step dad, the kids Grampy, Billy. I’m so glad I decided to do project 365 again this year. I really do love looking back on all the photos, even if most are taken with my phone. Just want to take more photos of the kids with family members.
