Poetic Winter Photography Challenge: Solitude

I am so excited that there will be a winter photo challenge. I enjoyed the Summer and Fall photo challenge so much. Now this one will keep me motivated to take photos when it is cold outside. Even though we haven’t been having the coldest weather I still get sad when we can’t go outside and play every day.

I do love where we live we can enjoy going out and exploring through the woods. Dustyn enjoys it also.

We actually have some volunteer daffodils that look like they really want to bloom.

I sure am ready for Spring and Summer but I am still finding beautiful things to take photos of.

I find this very true. When I learned about Carsyn’s diagnosis and even today sometimes I feel like I put walls up just to see who really cares. I guess sometimes it feels like, especially in blog land, that we just go through the motions. Visiting blogs, commenting on blogs and writing the same old blog post.  Sometimes I feel that some people just visit here just so that I will visit them back. I want people to visit here because they like what I write and the photos I take.  The same way in real life, you have friends you hang out with and talk to, but do they really care about you and what you are going through?

Also linking up with: Give Me Your Best Shot, PhotoStory Friday, Fabulous Friday, Favorite Photo Friday, Photo Friday, Shoot.Edit.Submit., Oh Snap!, and Look Whooooo’s Snapping.

I just want to say I am overwhelmed with everyone’s support to get us to the Families for HoPE Conference. You all are awesome and amazing. I am already over 60% to my goal and I have until July to raise the money. So thank you. You do not know how much this means to me.

Beautiful entries Sarah. I love the soft brown tones. And our daffodil's are budding too. So glad to see a few pops of color here and there ;) I know what you mean about friends in the blogosphere, as in everyday life, there are some who pass through our lives quickly and some who stick around because they really care. I have been overwhelmed by a few of the bonds I've made through blogging and saddened by some that didn't last. Overall though, I have found it to be a very supportive atmosphere and for that I am very thankful.

I think your photos exemplify solitude. Love the lighting that you captured. I'm sorry that you feel the need for walls sometimes. I can understand though.

I think we all feel the same way sometimes. And sometimes it really is going through the motions. I'm praying for you're family and remember there is a reason for everything. God gave you that precious boy because he knew you and your husband would be the best parents. And I see that. I wish your family well. My son has a disability, and it's feels sometimes no one understands what's going on. They don't understand him, and just think he understands all in the world, which he doesn't. He has a tough time, and I know he feels alone sometimes as well. And it breaks my heart.

I love coming to your blog and I love your pictures. I think you are an amazing strong woman to deal with something as you do. I'm not sure how I would myself. I don't comment every time, but I do try to read your blog every day.

I always enjoy your visits, but you don't have to visit just because I comment. A voluntary comment always cuts through the feeling of isolation faster than 30 "returned" comments. I always love looking at your photos. If I had time to visit all the blogs I wanted to everyday, yours would definitely be one. I find I have less and less time now days, though. Balance will always be a struggle.

Sarah, I just love your quote about putting up walls. I actually shared it with a friend last week as he was going through a difficult time and was literally putting up walls to keep people out. It's a quote that really speaks to me. I'm sorry that I don't come by as often as I should. Alas, motherhood has made it impossible for me to sit around and visit all of the lovely people I'd like to visit. Imagine that. lol Just know that when I do come by, it's not because I want a return visit. Hope you and your lovely family are doing well. Thanks so much for joining us in the Poetic Winter Photo Challenge. I've so enjoyed your work throughout our challenges and I'm looking forward to seeing even more! By the way, if you haven't already downloaded the freebie texture over at my place, stop by and do so soon! Have a great weekend!

Girl! You put into words the exact way I have been feeling. Putting up walls to see if people really care and the desire for people to visit my blog because they like what I post not just so I will follow them back. I always love your honesty. Hugs to you and your precious boys.

I totally relate to how you feel. (Although my wall relates to my diagnosis unexplained infertility.) For me personally, it’s sometimes hard to visit blogs with children. (I have found I tend to like blogs that balance their children and photography, so I feel more included, if that makes sense.) I have enjoyed watching your boys grow, and seeing all of your gorgeous photos over the year, and right now am quite jealous of that daffodil. (I keep checking mine but so far they’re hiding.) Good luck with your fundraising, I hope you can make it to the conference!

I know exactly what you mean. I feel isolated a lot. When hard things happen in our lives, it consumes us and separates us from those that aren't in the same place. I am so glad that you are already 60% there - and I want to let you know that I started following you because you took great pictures. I keep following you because you sound like the type of person I would want to be friends with even if you never blogged another word again, because I would want to be your every day, in person friend. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Welcome

Still on my to-do list: a gallery wall and living wall, but I'm a bit nervous since I'm not exactly good at that. One day, though... I also dream of getting a projector to display scenes on the big white wall.

I'm going to miss my Halloween decorations when they come down - time to start scouring thrift stores for Christmas decor, I suppose! 🎄

What I have left to do still: Get the top for my desk and seal it. Organize my craft stuff and put it on the shelves under my desk. Figure out my gallery wall above my desk. Order my @wallygrowplanters for my living wall. And of course buy more books and plants. 😆

Not sure when my low bookcases and desk will be built, but it will happen eventually. Almost there. 🙌🏼
