Making Love Last | Part 1

Filed Under: Family Tagged With: faith, making love last

We have been doing a marriage series at Church.  It is called Making Love Last. They play this cute little video each week before the service and it is hilarious. You should watch it.

How do you make love last?

Most people think that love should come naturally. That you don’t have to work at it. It would be like someone saying, “Don’t you think that photography should come naturally? That you just pick up a camera and take amazing photos.” No, it comes with work and practice. That is how love works. You have to work to make love last.  It does not come easy or naturally.Even if you think you are compatible with your spouse, you really are not. You and your spouse is actually spiritually broken by Satan, they are self-centered. {We will go more into this in Part 2.} I came to an epiphany about being self-centered in Part 2. I can not wait to share this part.

Basically the first week the pastor talked about the “big secret” to making love last. You can listen to the full sermon here. It comes from Ephesians 5:32.

This starts to unwrap the mystery of marriage. The “big secret” is to love your husband/wife as Jesus loved the church. What exactly does that mean?

It seizes to be less about what I want/need and becomes more of what Kenny wants/needs. Do for your spouse what Jesus did for you and the rest will come. Wow is all I can say.

Will you continue this series with me and make your love last?

So true, love and marriage take work. Couples cannot coast along and expect everything to be fine. (What a lovely old church building! Beautiful photo.)

Sounds like a great series and I loved that video. Marriage takes work but if we don't make Christ the center of it, it's doomed.

One of the greatest pieces of advice we got pre-maritally was that marriage is not give and take, but give give. Each of us should seeks to give continually. Its hard, of course, but certainly a goal.

Our church did a 2 week mini series on marriage, one week on what she wants you to know and the next on what he wants you to know. It was such a great reminder even for my almost 20 year marriage. Because honestly it is something we always have to work on. I look forward to your part 2 . . . love that church!!

I had 5 total cuttings that I put into water. 4 of the pieces had roots longer than 2 inches with some secondary roots. The last piece is still in water, it has some roots but not enough, so giving it a bit more time. Where I cut it is also making a new stem and I noticed further down it was trying to branch out in other places. Hopefully it takes off this Summer and becomes fuller looking.

It was soooo cold out there tonight even with the sun. The wind was whipping. It may have been in the 40s but the wind chill was in the low 30s. I think my face is wind burned. Annie did a great job playing tonight and was trying so hard to make a goal. The other team was short on players, so one of her teammates was goalie and did an awesome job stopping the ball. Annie tried a new strategy of holding the ball in between her feet until the other team gives up. 🤣 There is one clip of Prestyn (# 13). His games are harder to take video of cause his field is so big.

Today while eating lunch I told her it was close to coming out and we would need to pull it before bed. While eating chicken teriyaki she thought she swallowed it and spit out the chicken in her mouth. I dug through it and it wasn’t there. She started freaking out. Then looked on the chair and it was sitting right there. 🤣 A similar thing happened with Prestyn on one of his bottom teeth. My kids never want to pull them out until they fall out on their own. Ha.
