In the MOMent Monday with Melissa

Having children changes everything. That’s what people tell you before you have kids. And you know what? It’s absolutely true. The one thing I am most thankful for, besides all the extra love, is that having children caused me to have to slow down. To live in the moment more. To appreciate what is happening right now.

“Happiness, not in another place but this place…not for another hour, but this hour.” -Walt Whitman

Of course, I wanted to remember all those little moments so I picked up a camera. And using a camera taught me to see those little moments in new ways. To study the intricate details. To find new perspectives. To recognize a glimpse of beauty in the mundane.

“Photography, alone of the arts, seems perfected to serve the desire humans have for a moment – this very moment – to stay.” -Sam Abell

Inthemoment

These are two of the greatest life lessons, and most valuable gifts that I can imagine.

I feel the same way, especially since there were so few pictures of my childhood being the 3rd. I never want my kids to wish there were pictures of them.

Carsyn’s first day of school a few days late. Th Carsyn’s first day of school a few days late. The teachers say he seems happy to be back. This would technically be his 8th grade but we will probably hold him back a few years in middle school before we move him up to high school. Of course they are “virtual” tomorrow and possibly Friday because of the hurricane/tropical storm. Then Labor Day on Monday. So he probably won’t be back again until Tuesday.
