In case you haven’t heard already, one of the best movies of the year came out on Tuesday, Guardians of the Galaxy. We didn’t get to see it in theaters, but heard so many good things about it. We just couldn’t wait till it came out on DVD. The DVD features: Exclusive Character O-sleeve and exclusive music zinepack and a 64 page magazine with cast and crew interviews, exclusive behind-the-scenes photos and trivia PLUS a custom “cassette” laptop decal. I went early Tuesday morning to snag our copy. I decided to celebrate the release with a family movie night, on a school night! Dustyn was ecstatic to be able to stay up a little late on a school night.

We had pizza, candy, chips and the best of all… cupcakes!

Cupcakes

I decided to have some fun with these and picked up all of the little Guardians of the Galaxy figures. I baked cupcakes, topped them with purple icing, and sprinkles. Then just topped each cupcake with a figure.

The boys enjoyed playing with the figures after eating their cupcakes. If your child wants a Guardians of the Galaxy birthday party these would be perfect. Then each child could take home their own figure at the end of the party.

Getting ready to watch the movie! We had so much fun, Dustyn asked if we could do that every night.

The next day I decided to make this baby Groot.

I took some brown packing paper that I had laying around and twisted it up. Then took little strips of brown packing paper for his arms.

Next, I twisted up green packing paper and wrapped around the main body and arms.

Glued these in place.

Then just trimmed the top of his head and his arms.

Finally I drew his eyes and a little smiley face. Seriously so easy and the cutest.

Dustyn loves him and now has him sitting on his dresser in his room. Groot was hands down our favorite character in Guardians of the Galaxy.

You know I really liked that movie except for all the swearing. For something that seemed geared to kids it had more swearing in it than a lot of the other Marvel movies. But your party looks awesome and I'm sure your boys are going to have some great memories of it!

Groot was also my favorite character in Guardians of the Galaxy. Before watching the movie, I didn't expect it to be that good. But it turned out to be awesome.

What a fun theme! I can't wait for my kids to be old enough to have themed movie nights. I still haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy but sounds like it should be on my list. Who knew Bradley Cooper was in it?! I think that might be a little bit of extra incentive on my part.. ;)

I had 5 total cuttings that I put into water. 4 of the pieces had roots longer than 2 inches with some secondary roots. The last piece is still in water, it has some roots but not enough, so giving it a bit more time. Where I cut it is also making a new stem and I noticed further down it was trying to branch out in other places. Hopefully it takes off this Summer and becomes fuller looking.

It was soooo cold out there tonight even with the sun. The wind was whipping. It may have been in the 40s but the wind chill was in the low 30s. I think my face is wind burned. Annie did a great job playing tonight and was trying so hard to make a goal. The other team was short on players, so one of her teammates was goalie and did an awesome job stopping the ball. Annie tried a new strategy of holding the ball in between her feet until the other team gives up. 🤣 There is one clip of Prestyn (# 13). His games are harder to take video of cause his field is so big.

Today while eating lunch I told her it was close to coming out and we would need to pull it before bed. While eating chicken teriyaki she thought she swallowed it and spit out the chicken in her mouth. I dug through it and it wasn’t there. She started freaking out. Then looked on the chair and it was sitting right there. 🤣 A similar thing happened with Prestyn on one of his bottom teeth. My kids never want to pull them out until they fall out on their own. Ha.
