School is almost out for the Summer and it is just not feasible to go and do something every single day. You come up with all these plans and a few weeks in your kids are saying how bored they are. Even if we can’t go places every day I still need to have a few ideas on fun backyard activities they can do when they say they are bored.
Fun Backyard Activities
Bubbles
This is a favorite. All my kids and puppy enjoy bubbles. It is so simple, and cheap. We usually always have bubbles laying around. A bubble machine makes it even easier.
Draw Wet Chalk Art
This is so neat, First you wet down your patio and then draw on it with chalk. The chalk with be more vibrant and will write easily.
Fun In The Water
Get a cheap little plastic pool.
Or you can up-cycle juice boxes into boats. This is so fun because they can build the boat and play in the water.
Toy Excavtaion
We have a little area of sand we let the kids dig in. They have a lot of fun burying toys, and then digging them up.
Conduct A Science Experiment
You can conduct a science experiment by taking old and broken crayons plus aluminum foil outside. First, place foil on a baking sheet or plate. Next take the wrappers off of the crayons and put the crayons on the foil. Now wait and watch as the sun slowly melts the crayons. Once they are melted, bring them back inside and let solidify to the point you can fold the wax without it dripping. If it’s no longer malleable, bring outside for a couple of minutes and try again. Once the wax can bend without breaking or dripping, roll your melted wax to make a straw-like crayon. Let sit until fully hardened and draw!
Make A Bug Catcher
We like to make bug catchers out of up-cycled Juicy Juice bottles.
Have a picnic
Lunch, snacks and drinks outside are much more fun then inside. Plus, it makes less clean up for you. YAY!
