Christmas in July | Families for HoPE

Filed Under: Family, Parenting, Special Needs Tagged With: carsyn, cerebral palsy, fundraising, Holoprosencephaly

Time for Christmas in July! Balsam Hill is teaming up with 10 blogger to raise money and awareness for 10 different charities. I was so excited when they contacted me because I have a charity near and dear to my heart. You see, my four year old super hero Carsyn has Holoprosencephaly. Have you heard of that before? If not, don’t worry. I had never heard of it until the neurologist said that is what was wrong with my sweet one year old. I said Holo-what?! Carsyn had stopped developing around 7 months and we were trying to figure out what was going on with him.

Christmas in July | Families for HoPEWhen I first learned of Carsyn’s Holoprosencephaly diagnosis I went straight to google. At first I didn’t find very much positive information. A lot was negative and I was scared. I did end up coming across the Families for HoPE website. I found hope. There were some amazing stories about children with Holoprosencephaly. I immediately jumped in and had a support system. People to talk to about our struggles. People that understood what I was going through. I ended up going to the Holoprosencephaly Family Conference and met some amazing families. I even was able to capture photos, that they later used for their websites banner.

Christmas in July | Families for HoPEFamilies for HoPE Inc. is a volunteer and parent-run organization that provides families of children with HPE both resources and support. The donation tiers and perks are as follows…

  • $5 – A chance to receive the entire Balsam Hill Mistletoe & Holly Ornament Set
  • $25 – A Balsam Hill Mistletoe & Holly Christmas Ornament

Here are what the new set of ornaments look like. If you donate $25 you will receive one of these.

Christmas in July | Families for HoPEYour donation will go directly to Families for HoPE Inc. as they continue to offer online and in-person resources, stories and support.

Hi Sarah! What initially impressed me about your charity is that it appears that information and early treatment can make a difference. I have two grandsons and my own youngest daughter is special needs so im accutely aware of the implications of living with difficulties. Thank you for what you’re doing and it is wonderful. It’s important to make people alert to such diseases. Knowing is the first step to adjusting and providing relief to those afflicted. With your help, I’m sure the organization will be able to help more parents and children. -Dagmar
