Dr Pepper TEN Chili

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic minced
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons of chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon red cayenne pepper
  • 1 chipotle chile in adobo sauce chopped
  • 1 pound of lean ground beef
  • 12 oz of Dr Pepper TEN
  • 1 can 28 ounces diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 can 14.5 ounces diced fire-roasted tomatoes
  • 1 can 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 can 15 1/2-ounce of dark red kidney beans, drained

Toppings:

  • Sour Cream
  • Cheese
  • Cilantro
  • Fritos

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in large pot.
  2. Saute onion and garlic in olive oil, until they begin to soften.
  3. Add salt, chili powder, cumin powder, cayenne pepper, chipotle chile and stir until combined. Cook for another minute or two.
  4. Add ground beef and cook until brown.
  5. Pour in the Dr Pepper TEN. Let reduce over medium heat.
  6. Drain diced tomatoes, and add them along with the fire roasted tomatoes, and tomato sauce. Let your chili simmer on the stove for 45 minutes or more.
  7. Add the beans about 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
  8. Serve with toppings of choice.
