Turtle Beach released their new Recon 200 headset on September 9th, just in time for our first Hurricane of the season. The kids were out of school starting on Wednesday through the rest of the week. With lots of rain and wind they couldn’t play outside, which meant lots of time inside playing on the Xbox One and PC. These headsets are a great way to take your gaming to the next level.
Dustyn has been playing Fortnite with his friends for a long time, but he didn’t have the ability to talk with them. He was so excited to get the Recon 200 gaming headset so that he could talk to his friends and make it easier to work together in the game.
My favorite feature is the flip-up mic. That way if I need to talk to him and I don’t want his friends to hear everything I say I can flip up the mic and I know for a fact it is muted. The other nice thing is variable mic monitoring, you can hear and adjust the volume of your own voice inside the headset so you are not shouting. Dustyn still hasn’t figured this one out, he still talks a little loud no matter what.
We all know that boys are pretty rough on stuff, so I was excited that the headband is reinforced with metal for durability. He is sometimes forgetful, so the all day battery life is awesome. You can get 12 hours of gaming per charge.
The sound quality is amazing. I put these on then put on a regular set of headphones Kenny had and couldn’t believe the sound difference. High quality 40mm over the ear speakers produce crisp highs and thundering lows. They are loud and have built in bass boost so you can feel the bass.
Recon 200 headsets are designed for the Xbox One, PS4™, Nintendo Switch™, PC and mobile devices. He normally played Fortnite on the PC, but once we set them up on the Xbox One with surround sound it gave him a more immersive experience. He could easily hear the footsteps of other players in Fortnite. The headsets are available in two colors – black and white.
