Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Hot Breakfast Sausage
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375.
  2. Mix together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  3. Add in the uncooked sausage, red pepper flakes, and cheddar cheese. Mix well.
  4. Roll into 1/2-3/4 in balls.
  5. Place on a wire rack over baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes.

Notes

I bake on the wire rack so the grease drains down and away from the sausage cheese balls.
You can add more red pepper flakes if you want it really spicy.
I usually do speed bake or broil for the last 5 minutes to get them crispy.

Sausage Cheese Balls Recipe

This is only my second time making these, but they are so delicious. I will be making them more often. I adapted this recipe from several different ones found online and made it my own.  I know a lot of recipes call for more flour or bisquick, but I would rather have a sausage ball with a little bread, then a bread ball with a little sausage.

By the way, I have some exciting news! Two of my recipes got approved for Food Gawker. My Avocado Lime Tuna Salad and my Chipotle Chicken Goldfish crackers.

What would you serve with these sausage cheese balls?
