In the MOMent with Meagan: From Three to Four

WEB_IMG_4260

Andrew turned four just last month, but so far it seems to be a magical age. Full of adventure and imagination, laughs and silliness.

WEB_IMG_4275

His new favorite activity is arts and crafts – coloring and drawing pictures, cutting shapes and making paper airplanes. He asks for his colors and paper first thing in the morning and last thing before bedtime.

WEB_IMG_4279

He wants me to write out the stories he tells and is always asking me how to spell words.  He wants to help read his Dr. Seuss books and sound out the funny rhymes: fox, box, over, rover.

This transformation happened overnight it seems. Don’t get me wrong. He still wants to run and jump and makes way too much noise. But his quiet calm times are outpacing the wild times.

And the tantrums and uncooperative attitude are getting better too. He’s easier to reason with and transitions aren’t nearly as tricky as they used to be.

We’re having so much fun. And I’m excited to see what this four year old is going to do next.

Beautiful images Meagan! Four is a lovely age! Two and three are tough, fortunately at 4 they love helping and creating and being responsible. :)

Thank you! Yes, I thought 2.5 - 3.5 was really, really hard. But we've left toddlerhood behind, and I'm so so happy about it!

Oh please dear LORD tell me the 4's are better than the 3's!! Haha - you and my SIL have given me hope! Your last part about transitions and reasoning...we're stuck in the beginning stage of that..."joy"!

Four is such a turning point and I love how you've captured it. I have a four year old now and its such a breath of fresh air after the storms of age three. Enjoy!

Thank you Brea! And yay for four year olds! I feel like people always talk about how terrible three is, but I don't hear much about four. Thanks for sharing! :)

6 weeks ago I cut off the top of my Monstera Adans 6 weeks ago I cut off the top of my Monstera Adansonii because it was very tall but not bushy. It was nerve wracking at first. I had 5 total cuttings that I put into water. 4 of the pieces had roots longer than 2 inches with some secondary roots. The last piece is still in water, it has some roots but not enough, so giving it a bit more time. Where I cut it is also making a new stem and I noticed further down it was trying to branch out in other places. Hopefully it takes off this Summer and becomes fuller looking.

It was soooo cold out there tonight even with the sun. The wind was whipping. It may have been in the 40s but the wind chill was in the low 30s. I think my face is wind burned. Annie did a great job playing tonight and was trying so hard to make a goal. The other team was short on players, so one of her teammates was goalie and did an awesome job stopping the ball. Annie tried a new strategy of holding the ball in between her feet until the other team gives up. 🤣 There is one clip of Prestyn (# 13). His games are harder to take video of cause his field is so big.

Today while eating lunch I told her it was close to coming out and we would need to pull it before bed. While eating chicken teriyaki she thought she swallowed it and spit out the chicken in her mouth. I dug through it and it wasn’t there. She started freaking out. Then looked on the chair and it was sitting right there. 🤣 A similar thing happened with Prestyn on one of his bottom teeth. My kids never want to pull them out until they fall out on their own. Ha.
