Posting this picture below for Click-It Up a Notch. I would love to be critiqued on it.  I have been shooting in manual for a month and a half. This is SOOC, besides my watermark.

I was practicing not cutting off his limbs {which I usually do}

My settings ISO 100, f/1.8, 1/200. I was using my 35mm fixed lens.

Playing around with rocks and water to try and catch the water in mid splash. This was the best shot out of about 30. I had a lot of fun experimenting.

    Wow, I too am impressed with your shots for only being in manual for such a short time. I wish mine looked like that. I need to take more time to practice on something besides my 6 month old.

    I would have like to see your little one on the left side of the photo, so he is looking into the picture versus out of it.

    These are all great! Love the 2nd grasshopper shot.

    On the shot of the boy: I think did you great. I probably would have placed him in the left third but wouldn't have changed anything else.The colors are great and you got some beautiful bokeh.

    Yay for shooting in manual and experimenting! The water in mid splash looks like a lot of fun. I'll have to try it out myself.
  23. Marissa says

    October 8, 2010 at 11:18 am

    Wow those are some great shots!! I LOVE the bokeh, something I need to work on!

    The colors and exposure look really good as well. Like the others have suggested you could have placed him in the left third, but honestly, I think this works as well!

    Excellent use of DOF with bokeh. The color and clarity of the image are terrific.

    The only thing I would have done is move him into the left third of the photo allowing him to have space to look into.

    It's the "Great Pumpkin" Charlie Brown!

    Sarah, I can't believe you have only been shooting for a month and a half! Great job! I am in love with all the yummy bokeh! Well done!! I would have moved him (if he was willing he he) back about 5 feet so there was more backlighting and less gravel in the shot. I totally understand that sometimes kids don't place themselves where we want them :O) I love the vibrant colors! I also would have put him in the left third so it gives him room to look into the frame. I think you settings look great! Great job!!! You did a fabulous job of cropping him in the right places...no crazy limb chops! Super!!!

6 weeks ago I cut off the top of my Monstera Adans 6 weeks ago I cut off the top of my Monstera Adansonii because it was very tall but not bushy. It was nerve wracking at first. I had 5 total cuttings that I put into water. 4 of the pieces had roots longer than 2 inches with some secondary roots. The last piece is still in water, it has some roots but not enough, so giving it a bit more time. Where I cut it is also making a new stem and I noticed further down it was trying to branch out in other places. Hopefully it takes off this Summer and becomes fuller looking.

Annie did a great job playing tonight and was trying so hard to make a goal. The other team was short on players, so one of her teammates was goalie and did an awesome job stopping the ball. Annie tried a new strategy of holding the ball in between her feet until the other team gives up. 🤣 There is one clip of Prestyn (# 13). Today while eating lunch I told her it was close to coming out and we would need to pull it before bed. While eating chicken teriyaki she thought she swallowed it and spit out the chicken in her mouth. I dug through it and it wasn’t there. She started freaking out. Then looked on the chair and it was sitting right there. 🤣 A similar thing happened with Prestyn on one of his bottom teeth. My kids never want to pull them out until they fall out on their own. Ha.
