Carsyn & Tigger

Filed Under: Family, Special Needs Tagged With: cerebral palsy, Holoprosencephaly

Carsyn received the Bounce Bounce Tigger for Christmas from his Nana & Poppy. He absolutely loves Tigger. Definitely at the top of his favorite list. The other day I decided to put Carsyn in his Stander, then put Tigger on his tray and take a few pictures. I just love these photos so much. They really capture his personality.

Carsyn’s smile can light up a room. It is just so sweet. I love him so much!

We are meeting a new Rehab Doctor on Wednesday. I am going to talk to her about doing a Select Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR). This procedure will be painful and hard work for Carsyn, but I think it will be worth it in the end. I will also be doing some winter cleaning, organizing and donating items we no longer need.

What are you all up to this week?

Awesome. How old was she again? The previous rehab doctor wanted to go ahead with the surgery but the new doctor feels like waiting one more year would be better.

It was one week after her third birthday. Her neurosurgeon was one of the few at that time with a long history (almost 20 years then) with the procedure.

Oh okay. See Carsyn is going to be 4 in May and she felt like waiting till he is 5 would be beneficial since right now his brain is still changing a lot. Or something like that. I really need to start recording the doctors appointments because I have a terrible memory. HA!

Love the photos! This week is off to a slow start. I'm in central IL, where we ONLY got 7" of snow, but the howling wind has caused some really big drifts. Today was supposed to be the first day of school after Christmas break but because of the cold & snow, school is canceled. My husband's office is also closed today. So we're staying inside, keeping warm, & feasting on a huge pot of vegetable soup I made yesterday!

6 weeks ago I cut off the top of my Monstera Adans 6 weeks ago I cut off the top of my Monstera Adansonii because it was very tall but not bushy. It was nerve wracking at first. I had 5 total cuttings that I put into water. 4 of the pieces had roots longer than 2 inches with some secondary roots. The last piece is still in water, it has some roots but not enough, so giving it a bit more time. Where I cut it is also making a new stem and I noticed further down it was trying to branch out in other places. Hopefully it takes off this Summer and becomes fuller looking.

It was soooo cold out there tonight even with the sun. The wind was whipping. It may have been in the 40s but the wind chill was in the low 30s. I think my face is wind burned. Annie did a great job playing tonight and was trying so hard to make a goal. The other team was short on players, so one of her teammates was goalie and did an awesome job stopping the ball. Annie tried a new strategy of holding the ball in between her feet until the other team gives up. 🤣 There is one clip of Prestyn (# 13). His games are harder to take video of cause his field is so big.

Today while eating lunch I told her it was close to coming out and we would need to pull it before bed. While eating chicken teriyaki she thought she swallowed it and spit out the chicken in her mouth. I dug through it and it wasn’t there. She started freaking out. Then looked on the chair and it was sitting right there. 🤣 A similar thing happened with Prestyn on one of his bottom teeth. My kids never want to pull them out until they fall out on their own. Ha.

Not sure what made the most difference but the leaf opened and now a new one is already starting. Hoping it won’t take as long this time.
