15 Things To Say To Our Children

Filed Under: Family, Parenting Tagged With: carsyn, dustyn

Now that Dustyn is getting older I find myself just letting him do his thing. Telling him I am too busy to play or listen. Getting mad at him when he doesn’t do things the right way. I have a lot on my plate with Carsyn and feel I really don’t give enough positive attention to Dustyn. Therefore I decided to make a list of 15 Things To Say To Our Children as a reminder to myself. I want to make sure that say these things to both my boys on a daily basis.

15 Things To Say To Our Children

  1. You are an extraordinary person. There is no one like you.
  2.

  3. It is alright to cry. Everyone cries for different reasons. Whether they are upset, happy, sad, worried or glad.
  4.

  5. What an amazing idea! I never would have thought of that. How did you come up with that idea? You are clever!
  6.

  7. You made a mistake and that is okay. People make mistakes. Is there anything we can do to fix it? It is over and you can start fresh. I forgive you.
  8.

  9. I am sorry. I made a mistake. Will you forgive me please?
  10.

  11. You did something helpful and kind. Thank you.
  12.

  13. I can wait. You don’t have to rush. We have time.
  14.

  15. What would you like to do? It is your turn to pick.
  16.

  17. I am listening. Tell me about it. I am right here.
  18.

  19. When we are apart I missed you.
  20.

  21. Just try a little bit. You might like it. Let’s see. I think you can do it, but I can help if you need me.
  22.

  23. How can I help you? I am here. If we work together we can get it done.
  24.

  25. I have a surprise for you. It is just something small, and for no reason at all.
  26.

  27. It is okay if you want to change your mind. Big decisions take a lot of thought.
  28.

  29. I love you! There is nothing you could say or do that will make me stop loving you.

What are some things you want to remember to say to your children?

This is a great list! I think it's easy for grown-ups to expect children to be perfect and never make mistakes (or not really think it but act like they think that). My kids know, for example, that when they spill something they just clean it up, and I'll help them clean it because it's not a big deal. We all spill sometimes! So #4 and 5 happen here a lot! But I do say all the others too!

Don't be afraid to speak up about something that's bothering you. (One thing I'd tell a child)

These are really good things to say to your kids. More people, including me need to be saying and doing these with all of their kids. My son is 13 and he spends a lot of time in his room playing video games or watching youtube videos and I need to work on spending more time doing things with him.

Pay attention to your heart, because it usually knows which direction to take you. Be yourself, its okay to wear mismatch socks, eat the crust first on the pizza, or color the grass purple and the sky with polka dots, as long as it makes YOU happy.

6 weeks ago I cut off the top of my Monstera Adans 6 weeks ago I cut off the top of my Monstera Adansonii because it was very tall but not bushy. It was nerve wracking at first. I had 5 total cuttings that I put into water. 4 of the pieces had roots longer than 2 inches with some secondary roots. The last piece is still in water, it has some roots but not enough, so giving it a bit more time. Where I cut it is also making a new stem and I noticed further down it was trying to branch out in other places. Hopefully it takes off this Summer and becomes fuller looking.

Freaking freezing soccer nights. 🥶🥶🥶 It Freaking freezing soccer nights. 🥶🥶🥶

It was soooo cold out there tonight even with the sun. The wind was whipping. It may have been in the 40s but the wind chill was in the low 30s. I think my face is wind burned. Annie did a great job playing tonight and was trying so hard to make a goal. The other team was short on players, so one of her teammates was goalie and did an awesome job stopping the ball. Annie tried a new strategy of holding the ball in between her feet until the other team gives up. 🤣 There is one clip of Prestyn (# 13). His games are harder to take video of cause his field is so big.

Today while eating lunch I told her it was close to coming out and we would need to pull it before bed. While eating chicken teriyaki she thought she swallowed it and spit out the chicken in her mouth. I dug through it and it wasn’t there. She started freaking out. Then looked on the chair and it was sitting right there. 🤣 A similar thing happened with Prestyn on one of his bottom teeth. My kids never want to pull them out until they fall out on their own. Ha.
